UK001M- Meteor Cam

The UK001M is currently offline with a suspected camera failure. I am currently waiting for replacement parts. The images below are from the last successful upload.

UK001M is a camera that I’ve installed specifically for meteor detection. The data recieved feeds into the UK and Global Meteor Network, which is a collaborative project to study meteors and meteor showers.

The Camera is designed to operate every night automatically and observations are matched to other cameras in the network. In doing so, an analysis of the data can determine, velocity, altitude and direction of travel along with determination of whether it is associated with a known meteor shower.

The camera is self built and it is very easy to put one together following instructions from the global meteor network wiki (Click here). If you’re as intrigued by meteors as I am, I encourage you to look up, get involved, and maybe even set up your own way to observe these incredible events. The outputs are cool too!
